About - Jason Coplan - Brattleboro Varsity Boys Basketball Coach and Camp Director
I have been coaching basketball since 1992 and now varsity boys basketball coach at Brattleboro Union High School. Some of the camps I attended in my youth include Syracuse "Big Orange", KC Jones, and Don Nelson. While attending at University of Charleston, I worked summers at Tubby Smith's camp at the University of Kentucky and John Calipari's team camp at UMASS Amherst. Over the years I have attended numerous clinics and been fortunate enough to see and hear from coaches such as Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, UNC's Dean Smith, Roy Williams when he was at Kansas, Billy Donovan when he was at Florida, Bob Huggins, Rick Majerus, and numerous other top coaches around the country.
As a member of Brattleboro's first state championship in 1986, was listed in Street and Smith's Basketball Magazine's top 500 players in the country along with being nominated to the McDonald's All America team. There are some great memories from my days in the Jr. and Sr. pro basketball leagues here in town and although several aspects and rules of the game have changed over the years, the fundamentals of basketball have not and will always remain the same. Offensive and defensive concepts and principles require foundations in fundamentals in order to develop skills to improve.
